At the end of June, I began a transition.

After 15 years at my former company, it was time to move on to a new position. So I took a little time off to spend the summer with my family and now I am actively looking for a new position. I enjoy work a lot. I get a lot of satisfaction from delivering a finished product to the customer and seeing that they are pleased with the results. So I hope that my next position will bring me opportunities to continue to do that and to do it well.

In my previous position, I wore many hats. I was a Lotus Notes developer for many years and created many applications that were widely used by many people and departments. I then moved on to the public web site where I worked in search and content delivery. That transitioned, over time, to becoming the lead for the Google Search Appliance implementation that was undertaken. I took that on eagerly and developed the solution and deployed it. It went off extremely well and then I handed off the day-to-day running of it to other team members so that I could focus on other aspects of the web site. I worked with Java, JSP and TIBCO BusinessWorks and let the team of developers through maintenance processes that saw us execute successful releases every 7 weeks. Like most solution professionals, I am sure that is a very satisfying part of their job.

In my next adventure, I hope to focus on Enterprise Search and, more specifically, the Google Search Appliance. I would then like to branch out into the other Google offerings. There is so much potential behind all of these products and I think they are a great place to put down my laptop and raise a flag with my name on it.

Onward … to new adventures!
